Our Shiraz is a great example of vibrant, exciting Yarra Valley Shiraz. It portrays elegance and texture, complex red and black cherry fruits, notes of pepper, spice, licorice and thyme with a soft fine grain tannin structure.

From a north-facing vineyard in Seville with an elevation of 200m and planted 20 years ago. 70% destemmed. A light, bright crimson purple. A touch closed on the nose which features aromas of raspberry and wild blackberry that sit alongside some lifted pepper and floral notes. Medium bodied, the gently plush and energetic palate finishes with pliant and persistent tannins. It’s approachable now but will continue to improve for at least the next five to seven years.

This is a brilliant Shiraz. Paynes Rise does some wonderful wines and it is great to be able to get out there – but you seriously cannot go past this 2016 Yarra Valley Shiraz. It has some nice peppery notes and I can sit and drink this all day (I am about to purchase my third dozen in 6 months!)
