Wine Companion tasting note – James Halliday
Pale, bright quartz-green; a super-intense, refined and tightly focused chardonnay reflecting its Upper Yarra birthplace, with grapefruit to the fore, white peach to rear, both built around crisp acidity.
‘The Winefront’ – Gary walsh
Will be interesting to see how this wine develops.
It smells fantastic – particularly if you’re of a certain persuasion. Lees, toast, ripe pear, sulphur. Lots of funk and oak and fruit. I had it in a big ballooning glass and the nose had me mesmerised
– this is exactly how I like a chardonnay to smell, – there’s lemon and pear here, and some spicy oak too, and not a little elegance. If it fills/fleshes out with time in the bottle, it’ll be sensational.
